Catch the Bug Day 3

Day 3 of the Catch the Bug annual Christmas challenge is ABC (Anything But a Card) day. I decided to make a Gift Card Holder.  I used Bugaboo's  'Three Square Tree' image and their  'Nobby Knees Christmas Joy'. I think both images are delightful. The middle of the holder displays a large snowflake and a slot to insert the gift card.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #265 Create a Tag

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #265 is to create a tag. I made the tag and then created a holder from a see-through business envelope. (see 'Window Envelope Tag Tutorial' by My Porch Prints). A fun project and something a little different (for me).

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #257 Butterflies

Monica is hosting today's challenge and the theme is Butterflies!  As usual, anything you enter is fine, a card, a scrap layout, a mixed medium piece,  some home decor,  as long as it meets the Butterfly theme.

I made this album to give to my older sister for her April birthday, however, a nasty little thing called a coronavirus decided to explore our planet and cancel our get together. So, we agreed to celebrate when things return to some normalcy. The waterfall pages contain sentiments and pictures of the two of us through the decades.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #255 Green Album

Angela is hosting today's challenge with the theme 'Anything But A Card', therefore. anything you enter is fine, a scrap layout, mixed medium piece, or some home decor, as long as it is not a card.

I made this waterfall album for a dear friend and fellow crafter as a gift. The waterfall pages contain 'sayings', not pictures, some humorous, some not.  Had some trouble with the paper as I ran out of it and had to use my printer to print out enough to finish the project. Thanks be, my copier was up to the job and the colours remained true. Was pulling my hair out at time lol!

Catch the Bug Holiday Critter Chaos Day Three 2019

Bugaboo's  Holiday Critter Chaos continues over at the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog. Day Three challenge is to create a project that is anything but a card.  I decided to create a Gift Card Holder and used a Bugaboo image titled 'Reindeer Blocks'. I added three punched out snowflakes and a ribbon for closure. The image can be found here.

I decorated the inside with a die-cut snowflake and a 'To From' stamp. There is a die-cut (hidden from your view)on the portion that holds the gift card.  It reads 'Let it Snow'.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #244 Halloween

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #244 Halloween
Welcome to another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers. Kim is hosting today's challenge # 244
and the theme is 'Halloween'.

As usual, anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it follows the Halloween theme.

I used a wooden plague my late husband had made many years ago and painted it black.

The scene was created by cutting out a square piece of cardstock from the Recollections 'blackbird' collection (titled 'glowing orange'). I then adhered the spooky tree (Memory Box 'Grand Willow Tree'), the two paper bats (handmade) , the 2 black zigzaggy border trims ('Spooky Fence' by Cottage Cutz), then to finish it off the round 'moon'   created by cutting out the Spider Fang circle and the 31 from a page of Halloween images I found in my stash. I added half pearls just because.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Bugaboo Christmas in July Monday Challenge - Day 3

Bugaboo Christmas in July 2019

Day 3 Monday Challenge Theme: Anything but a Card   with the movie  Santa Claus is Coming to Town as the inspiration source. As it has the song "Santa Clause is coming to Town'  in the movie I decided to create a project (Gift Bag) based on the words 'He is making a list and checking it twice' as my inspiration.  Bugaboo's Ho,Ho,Ho stamp seemed to be close enough lol!

Stamp: Bugaboo's  AKV Santa HoHoHo (not sure it is still available as I could not find it on the Blog)

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #236 Anything but a Card

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #236 Anything but a Card. Angela is hosting today's challenge and anything you care to enter is fine as long as it meets the no card theme.

As you can see I chose to make a calendar-notepad holder. I wanted to make one back in January but could not find the calendar anywhere. I happened to be in a Dollar Tree the other day and right before me was one lone 2019 mini calendar, so of course, I bought it. I had to remove some months from the calendar but that's OK. (it now reads June lol!) Just a fun thing to make and I quite like it.

Card Details:
I used Stampin' Up card stock, some designer paper, a mini calendar and a sticky note pad. The larger embellishment flowers were made from a jar of flower petals I found hidden in my stash. I punched some petals to which I added rhinestone centers and adhered them to the larger flower petals.  I added three more of the small punched petals for added interest and adhered them to die cut leaves I had glued to the background.

Do come, join the fun and share your creations with us!

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #223 Anything but a Card

Welcome to a new Challenge at Crafty Cardmakers! Angela is hosting the challenge and the theme (and one of my favourites) is  'Anything But A Card'. Therefore, with this challenge anything you enter is fine, scrap layout, mixed media piece, or some home decor, as long as it is not a card!

I chose to make a little notepad holder. I have a  creative friend who gave me a couple of  notepad holders a while back and I quite loved them.  She came for a visit in October (we live in different cities)  and showed me how she had made hers. I  decided to make one myself to give as a small Christmas gift to another friend. and this is the one I made.

The notepad  I purchased at the Dollar Store, the solid cardstock is Stampin' Up's and the designer paper is from a paper pack I bought at Michaels. I used Spellbinders scalloped circle dies for the closure and punched out a small 1/2 circle to finish it off.   Two magnets hold the notepad together.

Bugaboo's Christmas in July Day 3 - Make a Gift or Gift Holder

Today is day 3 of Bugaboo's  -Catch the Bug annual Christmas in July challenge. The theme for day 3 is "Make a Gift or Gift Holder' . I used a sturdy paper bag from Lenscrafter's , covered their name with   golden zig zag fancy paper, and decorated the bag with a left over handmade bow from last Christmas. I coloured a Bugaboo image titled  'Sonbonnet Christmas Stuff'  with Prismacolor markers , attached it to a  used tag that had a gold sparkled surface,  and tied it to the Christmas bow.  Thinking maybe it did not appear to reflect the 'Baby it's cold Outside' theme, I attached three snowflakes to the front and several on the backside of the tag. Hope this works.

Tutorial - Post-It Note Holder

Tutorial Wednesday at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge blog and it is my turn to give one, so here goes.    I was given this lovely post it note holder from a dear friend who for no reason, just because she wanted to, gave it to me. I treasure it  and  I thought what a nice thing to give someone a just because gift so I decided to make one . I thought it would not be fair to copy her design (which I love) and went  with a  similar version of my own.  The main thing to remember is the insert must be THIN! The following are my specks.
Inspiration by  J. Batty

      2.  Cut a 2 3/4' x 2 3/4 frame for the image from
            cardstock:
I used a Spellbinders die cut  called
'Fleur de Lis Square' ,or use any die
of your choice with similar dimensions

    3. Inner image   2" x 2"
I used Beautiful Blocks  -   Life   a Bugaboo image
You can use digital or rubber/clear stamps
  •  colouring  -  Prismacolor markers Spring Green, Leaf green and Chartreuse

   4.  adhere:  designer paper to the 6" x 4" cardstock,
image to the die cut border, all to the designer  paper

Gift Box

Challenge # 178  at Crafty Cardmakers - Anything but a Card. Please stop by to see all the fabulous creations  by my talented teamies and join in the fun with your own creations! My choice was  the following :

Gift Box and Money/Card Holder

Do you need something small to hold a gift certificate or money?,   I made this for a granddaughter to hold her gift , which is money, but wanted something special to hold it in.  Something to make the money more personal, and let her know some thought went into the gift. I love how it turned out! You can throw some treats into the box for an added touch. Every item I used was from my stash . I used Spellbinders  circle and  scalloped dies and  I think the paper was Stampin' Up.
