You're a Classic

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the challenge at Cupcake Inspirations and the CupCake Inspirations this week
of Sept. 29, 2012 is:

My inspiration from the photo: I saw a lot of orange and the decorations on the top to the icing reminded me of autumn and  falling leaves.

I used a Doodle Pantry  digital stamp set  called 'Hotrod Pickup'. I think  is  the neatest little pickup truck and it was  great fun to colour. I did add  'crystal effects' to the windows and the headlights (thanks Laurie for the inspiration- see here for Laurie's card) but did not manage to capture it in my photo. I also used crystal effects on my leaves. The leaf images were stamped onto the designer paper and after cutting them out  they felt quite flimsy, hence the crystal effect to try and give them some body and strength. - we will see if works or not. This set contains an outline image and sentiments. I coloured the image with Prismacolor Markers and the sentiment is from the same stamp set. I  distressed the  card stock  the truck image was printed on and the layer behind the grey  embossed square.

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring  the Robyn's Fetish Challenge Blog for the week of  Sept 9th, 2012 and the theme is 'More than one Fold'! I used a Doodle Pantry   digital stamp set called 'Quirky Snowmen'. This set contains coloured and outline images, digital papers and sentiments.   For this card I used the outline images, merged then together in PaintNet, printed it out and coloured the resulting image with  Prismacolor  markers.  The sentiment is part of the same digital stamp set.I left the card pretty plain and let the paper do the work! I sponged in the background clouds with Stampin' Up's 'bashful blue' ink!\, added a little star and it was done.

Cowboy Gear

I fell in love with Doodle Pantry's new release of the digital stamp set  "Cowboy Gear" and  couldn't wait to make a card using it. Good thing  DP is sponsoring a challenge this week and I had the perfect sketch to use with the images. Doodle Pantry is sponsoring  the weekly Tuesday Morning Sketch challenge starting   Sept 4th , 2012.  For this card I used the cowboy boots and hat and coloured therm with  Prismacolor markers.  I did not add a sentiment as I'm not sure if this will be a sympathy card or not, but I did create it with that in mind! We'll see.. Adding the lasso was my husbands idea and  it really did add depth to the rather flat background. I had added some dimension by popping up the boots but it still needed something more. Now I know a lasso is constructed with the end going back some how thru the top but havaing no real knowledge of  how to do that I just tried to make somehow resemble the real thing:O)

Tuesday Morning Sketch

The Outhouse

+

When I heard Laurie had an outhouse image in her September release, I knew I wanted to do a release card using the image. I grew up in a house with no running water, heated with wood and coal  and   almost everyone we knew had an  'outhouse' . So many stories of  outhouse happenings took place through  the years, mostly all hilarious. Here is one;   one of my brothers  tied his horse to the outhouse  and while he was using it the horse spooked and ran away dragging it with him and  my brother still inside  yelling like crazy. We still have a great laugh about this when we get into one of 'I remember when' gatherings! Outhouses usually got tipped over every Halloween and  ours did too, until we  grew older and  became part of the town  kids that were out after treating, then for some reason nobody touched ours or our friends.. The next day our Mother often sent the boys  to   help the neighbours push theirs  back up. I guess she figured the guilty parties where the ones with outhouses still standing..
This card is a birthday card for the brother who tied the horse to the outhouse!

Note:  Big Labour Day Special  at Doodle Pantry from Aug.31st thru Sept. 9th: 35% off total product purchase (not including gift certificates)
