I am again using the  image of Sammy Snowman . I  think he is one of the cutest out there in digi land, he is totally adorable and can be found at 'Fairy Dust Crafts'! The challenge this fortnight is 'Nontraditional Christmas - no red or green'.  Think of the possibilities here, let the creative juices go and come up with a project using any colours you want as long as they are not red or green :0)    I  made Sammy and the sentiment dimensional. Christmas Birdie

Doodle Pantry is the sponsor of the weekly challenge over at 'The Stamptacular Sunday Challengeand the theme is 'Christmas Glitz'.  Great theme, just use lots of glitter, bling and sparkle. I used two of Doodle Pantry's  digital stamp sets ('Christmas Birdie'  and "Christmas Accessories') for my card.  I merged  the Christmas boxes from the accessories set with the Birdie image to get the picture of a birdie behind presents. I  merged  another smaller box from the same set and placed it in the birdie's wings., then to make it look like he was actually holding it, I printed out a second copy of the birdie, coloured his wing, cut it out,,cut a slit behind the box being held and then slid the wing into the slot. He  now looks like he is actually got a grip on it - lol.   For the glitz I added  Stickles  to the hat trim, the ribbon on  the boxes , the holly berries and the centers of the snow flakes (which look a lot like flowers :).  Flourishes were added as an additional bit of bling.  Go take a look at the challenge and  create a project with a Christmas Glitz focus and win a Doodle Pantry coupon.

Stamp:  Doodle Pantry's 'Christmas Birdie'  non coloured version;  Doodle pantry 'Christmas Accessories'

Welcome Little One

Oh, how I love little ones and the image above  shows why; are they not too adorable for words! Now the little one this was made for is even more adorable  than the above image and she is the great granddaughter of my husband. They diagnosed a heart problem with the little one in the last quarter of the pregnancy. The mother spent the last five weeks with us as our city has a hospital equipped to handle such a problem. I felt so sorry for her as she had to leave her home and our grandson and all her family members to stay with us who she barely knew. She took it like a trooper and I grew so fond of her during her stay. She will make a marvelous mum! Needless to say we had visitors coming and going for the duration. Then on Nov. 20, little girl Allie was born to the joy of all.  She is now back in her home city with her family and will be under  observation for most of her growing years. This can all be done where they live. Sometime good things  happen out of unusual circumstances and the joy to us, besides the health of the little one is we got to know and love the grandson's family in a way we never would have otherwise..

DT Card for Lexi's Creations Challenge #53 - No Straight Edges

Oh I do love this image of Sammy Snowman, I used him for the first card I made as a Guest Designor  for Lexi's Creations. I think he is totally adorable and he can be found at 'Fairy Dust Crafts'! The challenge this fortnight is 'No Straight Edges',  isn't that a great theme, I certainly think so because it lets me make one of my favourite type of card  - a round easel ! I don't know if you can tell but I made Sammy dimensional which makes it pop in real life:) I used Spellbinders  Nestabilities 'Beaded Circles'  and their 'classic Scalloped Circle' for the card. I then added a few embellishments and it was done. Quick, easy and fun!

Christmas Ornament

I love this image of a Christmas ornament  by Sandi Huggett, isn't it grand!  Sandi Huggett and Anne Fenton have  joined forces and  started a challenge over at 'Outlawz' called  Creative Freebie Challenge. The images to be used are from digital  images they have drawn and  believe me, these are some  totally fabulous images!  For  the first challenge they have a variety of Christmas images you can download  AND if you make a card with at least one of them, enter it into the challenge, they will give you  additional three or four images in the next 2 to 3 weeks.  These are two very talented ladies so it should be  a lot of fun. I coloured the ornament with Prismacolor markers, added some stickles  and used a Sakura Gelly Roll pen on the poinsettia leaves to give some sparkle to the card, just does not show up very good in the picture.
The ornament is dimensional as is the snowflake flower. I made the flower using holly leaves from a Stampin' Up set called  Sleigh Ride, and by punching out some snowflakes from several MS punches.

Deck the Halls

This is a different type of Christmas card for me, but I thought I would give it a go!    It is certainly not a traditional Christmas card  but the theme is Christmas. This gal reminds me of dance hall girls of old and I am sure they celebrated  the Christmas season too!
I used a Sassy Studio Design digital stamp called 'Steampunk Vivian', framed her in a Spellbinders Nestabilities  die cut (labels 20) and put it all on a  5x 5 card base. I used Spellbinders 'Grommet Tags' for the sentiment .

Embellishments: Holly branches from Stampin' Up's 'Sleigh Bells Ring' stamp set (stamped .coloured, and cut out), Martha Stewart branch punch and the flower from 'Floral Embellishments' by Recollections.

My friend and stamping buddy Dawn has three wonderful son's . The middle son moved out a little while ago and I have been planning on giving him a little gift ever since. He not only moved away from the nest, but to another city and has bought a home and gotten a new job. Lucky Calgary to have such a new citizen. Good Luck  and all the best that life can give BJ.
