Bracelet and Earrings

My picture does not do the bracelet and earrings justice. They are so gorgeous IRL. Our talented Jamie designed the earrings  and I adore them and they were quite easy to make. She taught me the pattern for the bracelet and it is one of the few things I have made that were not her original design, very beautiful though. This is the same pattern that I used for Katie's Bracelet only I used all squares and a   different way of joining them; See here for Katies!
I used pearls,  crystals and seed beads for this one and Katie's was  made usings round crystals rather than pearls.

Katie's Bracelet

I finally did it, the bracelet is done, took me long enough. It was to have been Katie's Christmas present, then her birthday present, then my goal was Valentines. It ended up  a belated BD present and she received it today; loves it  too apparently as she has said so and she is wearing it. It consists of 4 triangles and 2 squares joined together with round crystals and some seed beads. I'm hoping the squares will stabilise it somewhat while it is being worn., we will see.

It is not my design just a pattern  I learned  at my dining room table one week-end when Jamie was up.  Hope to soon post the two other bracelets I made using the same pattern just different beads and joined together differently.

PS:  Feb 24,2011 - Katie is my son's beautiful girl friend and we went out for a steak dinner last night and the bracelet sparkled so in the dimmed lights, was actually very, very nice!

DT Card for Lexi's Creations Challenge #34 - Flowers

My DT card for:

Lexi's Creations Challenge # 34 Flowers

Sponsor: Ewe 2 can Craft a great site for the things you need to embellish a card such as marvellous buttons, charms, including Christmas and Easter collections, etc.
Prize for this week is a fabulous selection of charms from EWE 2 CAN CRAFT)

Have you ever noticed that each card or project seems to have a story to tell! This one has given me a little angst and a fit of laughter. I managed to confuse the sponsor name to a card requirement; I know- but I did.  I was just about finished with the project when I ventured over to the DT site to make sure I had all the requirements; when to my dismay I read Flowers-Ewe 2 can Craft and being in a hurry all I could think of was 'what, they want sheep or lamb  on the flower card', oh my, what to do?? Ask Lexi of course, whatever did she mean- so off  with the email. Lexi must have fallen off her chair when she received it and I almost certainly did when I got her reply. It read "nooo lol, that's the sponsor, the challenge is just flowers". OMG she must think I'm insane was all I could think through gales of laughter. . Just too, too  funny. Good thing I asked though as I wonder what she would have thought if I had submitted a card with the rose bouquet surrounded by a bunch of sheep  he he......sometimes I just amaze myself.

I have made a 4 1'4 x 5 1'2 card  using the 'Roses'
image from Fairy Dust Crafts; such an elegant stamp! Added circles, edge punched flowers(the ones surrounding the circles were punched individually and glued on  one at a time so you can image my angst when I thought they might be replaced by a sheep:D, punched butterflies, pearls, mulberry paper roses and  enlarged ribbon bows from the image, cut out and covered with crystal effects. I also added some little punched daisy type flowers in red , topped with a pearl and covered with glitter glue.

I decided to add a pizza box and make it a little less decorated.I made a little punched flower out of the designer paper and added it with some punched leaves.

Relax, Take Care

Another great crafting day at Dawn's . She made this wonderful card and I made my spa lady.  I love my Friday `stamp-n-play'; I find it relaxing and  I am dedicating this card  to those Friday's.
I used  a free digi from Sassy Studios for the image and a computer generated sentiment. I added flock to the towel, created some little red flowers using punches and some red glitter and punched out the green foliage using MS punches. Used Spellbinder nestabilities and Shapeabilities for the large circle.

DT Card for Lexi's Creations Bear Dress Up Dee

Lexi's Creations    Challenge #33 'When You Go Down to the Woods Today- Lets See All Those Bears:D'

Sponsor:  Letraset an online store dealing with things creative (eg: markers, pads, adhesives, tutorials and well go take a look....)

Oh I loved this challenge and it was such a fun card to make. I had it in my mind that there had to be a scroll involved.  I checked a lot of digital stamp sites without success, so did a google search until I found one I liked and could download. Halfway through making the card I rechecked the site where I had downloaded the scroll from and the site had disappeared. When I finally found the scroll again it said picture may be subject to copyrights, or something to that effect. So of course that was out and the search was on again. Finally found the one I subsequently used, then just last night I was on a stamp site and low and behold there were two scrolls, just as I envisioned the  scroll to be; was too late though, my card was made and I was not about to tear it apart :D

I figured the digital stamp from Fairy Dust Crafts of the little girl (her name is Dee) in the bear outfit  was perfect for this challenge, there she was all dressed up and ready to go to a bear picnic. She is just so happy about it all, can't you see the glee on her face. Oh, what a good time it is going to be. Of course I had to add some butterflies; I love butterflies!

Note: The words to the Teddy Bear's picnic were written by Jimmy Kennedy in 1932 for a melody composed by John Walter Bratton in 1907.

Challenges;
Flutterby Wednesday: anything goes along as there is a butterfly, fairy or angel on the card - I have the butterflies
Stamping with the Dragon: anything goes

Little Claire's: monthly challenge - anything goes

Details:
Stamp: Bear Dress Up Dee from Fairy Dust Crafts coloured with Prismacolors . I punched out some leaves from two MS punches and sat her on top of them (with tape).
Embellishments: the bears and the bees are from Michael's , the butterflies are from a MS punch and were stamped to match the pattern on the green background border. I added tiny pearls so they were not so bland.
Papers:
Green background paper is Stampin Up's mellow moss, stamped with a  SU background stamp
Chocolate Chip paper then frames the yellow and green paper the scroll is attached to. I had brayered whisper white paper to  make a background to reflect  a sunny day in a green meadow (at least that was my intention).
Scroll: Free Image Works I typed the first bit of the song onto the downloaded scroll.

The song has been going through my head for days now, can't seem to get rid of it (lol)

The Nurse

I spent Friday afternoon with Dawn and we ventured into the world of nursing; or at least making a card depicting that world. My husband  spent a couple of days in the hospital last week having his gall bladder removed, so I am dedicating this card to him - it will give him a laugh.  I will link to Dawn's card when she posts. (update: here is Dawn's card; it is quite wonderful) I'm not sure where the sketch idea came from; it was not a current challenge and I cannot find it , so cannot reference  it.

Leprechaun Max

I don't often make a card for St. Patrick's but Leprechaun Max was hard to resist. (to me he embodies what I think a good Irish leprechaun should look like, some of them are quite nasty I hear and he is not:) If all leprechauns were as agreeable as Max, my great grandmother would not have had to break her egg shells up before she threw them out ( to prevent them from sailing over here in an egg shell I was told). I often wonder if this tale is true or not, did people really do this? Anyway I digress; so here are the challenges  and details for my card.
