This fortnight we celebrate Lexi's Creations 3rd year of challenges and in honour of this milestone our theme is 'A Special Birthday Card'.  This can include any major birthday that one celebrates and in my case it is the First Birthday of a great granddaughter! Last year in late September a lovely young lady came to stay with us while she waited to give birth. She is  my husbands grandson's partner and the baby had a heart  defect . It so happened that the city we live in had the hospital that could give the child it's best help upon birth. Five weeks later the little babe was born and here it is going on a year later, wow,  the little baby will soon be one year old!  She is thriving and developing normally and with monitoring should lead a normal life.I could not think of any better  birthday to celebrate than her's, what a treasure she is!

'Cute Kitten' Halloween Card

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the One Stop Craft Challenge and the theme this week  is 'Anything Goes'!  Challenge start date is Oct 20th, 2012. I used a Doodle Pantry  digital stamp set  called 'Cute Kitten' and I think the kitten is not only cute but displays a bit of poise and a lot of  attitude too!

I think this is one of my favourite Halloween cards as it is more cute than scary and it is just what I want to send to a great nephew in Ontario.  The cat is from Doodle Pantry and is called 'Cute Kitten'. I printed out the image, coloured it and then cut it out and propped it  on the sentiment frame image. The background paper (which I love) is from 'The Four Seasons paper stack by DCWV. Added a black bow looped around a circle and popped on a dimensional bat and spider. Just so easy peasy!

DT Card for LEJ Designs - Gothic/Dark

This is my first card for LEJ Designs and the LEJ Designs Challenge Blog this week  has as their theme  'Gothic/Dark'. Now I am no expert whatsoever in Gothic art so bare with me, this is my first attempt.  One thing I can say it was so much fun to make.  I Goggled Gothic art and one picture had all these bare branches looking quite eerie  so I decided to base my card on that feature.Luckily  I  had some graveyard  paper with bare branches  displayed on it.. The branches were purple so I made the gravestone and accessories purple to go with it. I added the corner die cut  in green just for some relief from the other dark colours.   The image is from QKR Stampede who is sponsoring this challenge and isn't it a beaut!I cut the image out by hand and  I shaped the skeleton head up from being level with the tombstone by squeezing the paper into a fold where his neck meets his head, I think it makes it look quite dimensional.  I also added three little ants crawling  on the stone for some more eeriness.  Hope you like my attempt:O)

Stamp: QKR Stampede digital image
Paper: Stampin ' Up's basic black, whisper white card stock  and  K&Company  Haunted Specialty Paper

GDT for My Crafting Heaven - Poinsettia

I am   delighted to do another  Guest Spot for My Crafting Heaven this time  showcasing the digital stamp 'Poinsettia'.   Christine Gray  sent me an image of  this beautiful flower to post for  her  Oct.10th showcasing  of this image. It is hard to tell but the poinsettia's second and third layers are popped up for dimension.I have seen many lovely different coloured poinsettia's the last few years so I went with a cream coloured one, rather than the traditional scarlet and red.    Christine's wonderful digital stamps  can be found  here at her shop! You can also visit her blog here: My Crafting Heaven.

I posted the bottom picture so you could see the spotted background paper, in the top picture it appears more black like than it really is (although I must admit it is rather hard to see in that photo too).
