Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #244 Halloween

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #244 Halloween
Welcome to another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers. Kim is hosting today's challenge # 244
and the theme is 'Halloween'.

As usual, anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it follows the Halloween theme.

I used a wooden plague my late husband had made many years ago and painted it black.

The scene was created by cutting out a square piece of cardstock from the Recollections 'blackbird' collection (titled 'glowing orange'). I then adhered the spooky tree (Memory Box 'Grand Willow Tree'), the two paper bats (handmade) , the 2 black zigzaggy border trims ('Spooky Fence' by Cottage Cutz), then to finish it off the round 'moon'   created by cutting out the Spider Fang circle and the 31 from a page of Halloween images I found in my stash. I added half pearls just because.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Crafty Cardmakers 'Challenge '#198 Halloween

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #198 Halloween
It is my turn to host the challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and a fun one it is. The challenge theme this fortnight is Halloween.
As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it follows the Halloween theme.
Please remember our 15 total challenge rule!
I used an older Stampin' Up Halloween stamp set for the images called Best Fiends - Halloween.  The fence is from a Martha Stewart punch  and the spider is from a Cuttlebug die called 'Creepy Sinistre'. The image frames are all from  Spellbinder"s dies (Deckled Rectangles,Standard Circles  and Scalloped Circles). Easy peasy, just added a strip of Rhinestones and it was done.

Please join us at Crafty Cardmakers for this seasonal challenge, Halloween will be here B4 you know it.

Happy Halloween Sentiment- Bugaboo - NR

It is New Release  Day at Bugaboo Stamps and this is my card interpretation for their new adorable image called BUGHWEENSENT- Halloween Sentiment.. This wonderful image by Bugaboo Stamps is perfect for creating cards or projects for the younger 'trick & treaters'. It is not scary, just looks like fun and  both young and old can enjoy it.

You can check out the new release at Catch the Bug  and see other interpretations of this fab image. All new release images are 50% off for week of the new release. The little poem at the bottom right is not part of the set but a Rubbernecker (rubber)  stamp . The leaf accessory is an older rubber stamp from Stampin' Up called Autumn Splendor. I added a few more accessories  (ribbon & half pearls) to complete the card. The paper is all Stampin' UP.

If the verse is hard to read it is as follows (Rubberneck stamp):
 When black cats prowl
 and pumpkins flicker
 to get to the treats
 you must be quicker

Halloween Layout

#175 Things that go Bump in the Night: a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and  this time  we are asking for something Halloween. It does not have to be a card , it can be anything you want, just as long as it matches  the challenge theme. I choose to do a page  for my son's Halloween scrapbook. I decided quite a while ago to update his Halloween  scrapbook from  pictures pasted on some cardstock to something more  eye pleasing. In this case the only items retained from that page are the photo and the white ghost sentiment.. I am a little behind in this I must say!

The solid papers are Stampin' Up's and the Halloween paper is ??, (bought long ago and I cannot remember). The embellishments are also a happy  puzzle, all I know is the chipboard tag is from  a Graphics 45 tag package and the Halloween spider web border  is a Martha Stewart  punch ,

Challenges:
1.  Dragonfly Journeys - Challenge #77 -  Trick or Treat
2. One Stitch at a Time: #273 Anything Goes with  Halloween Colours
3. Crafty Calendar October Challenge - Halloween
4. Simply Create Too - Challenge #120 Halloween
5. Simply Papercraft: #38 Anything Goes

Spider Web Happy Halloween

The challenge this Saturday over at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug challenges is "BINGO". Always a favourite of mine, takes some of the stress out of deciding what to create :O)! Did try to make it masculine to some degree (not required for the Bugaboo challenge).

I chose the bottom line - Sentiment, Halloween Theme &, Button for my card.
The stamp is titled 'Silhouette - Happy Halloween Circle' and contains both the sentiment and the image and captures the essence of the theme.
Do come and join the fun, just go here.

Dies: CuttleBug- Provo Craft (large Bat), Memory Box Grapevine Border
Other: button with ribbon from stash , small silver rhinestones
Paper: Stampin' Up

I won an opportunity back in May to participate in The Grand Prize Winner Challenge   for May - Aug over at the  Scraping 4 Fun Challenge blog (each winner of the challenges held from May thru August have the opportunity to compete).  I received a wonderful sketch and decided I needed to do a scrapbook page of a Halloween picture taken of my son from 1996. I want to do quite a few layouts of my sons childhood so this would be a great start. Here is the sketch:

This was a totally fun project, I can see that scrap booking could be quite addictive!!  The winners challenge is also a contest and each winner is given a number that can be used to vote on, my number is 01-Glenda, hint, hint (only if you are a follower of their blog) :O)!  see Scrapping4FunChallenge

RIP Halloween Card

Well it is close to the night of  Halloween and all sorts of costumed  young ones yelling  'trick or treat'  will be soon be upon us. I remember when my son was younger  the young kids on the street would suddenly appear  all dressed and clutching their treat bags at around 5:00PM. The once quiet street would suddenly become a beehive of activity and then around 8:00 PM stillness would once again descent as all the little ones would be home and excitingly going through their bags.. Older children would trickle in till around 9:00, and then it would be over.Lots of activities went on after that I know, but for us it was a done deal, although we would occasionally have to wipe an egg or two off a car window or something like that, but it was all very tame on our street. As the years went on less and less children  would appear and  now I get less than  half the amount at my door.Times change and so does the culture, parents seem afraid to let their children go door to door and have parties instead. The mall has become very popular too. Hope you like my 'spooky' Halloween card!

Time to try my hand at something I am not well versed in, making an ATC (artist trading card). These measure 2 1/2 x 3 1/2  soare  quite small to what I am used to.  I made a double pocket card  so I had  a spot to place the ATC in , plus  some money or gift card! This will be going to one of my great nieces for a Halloween treat. The image is part of a Doodle Pantry digital stamp set called 'Pumpkin Peeps' . The set contains another pumpkin peep  and it is an adorable piggy instead of a panda.  You also receive  digital papers and  sentiments.

'Cute Kitten' Halloween Card

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the One Stop Craft Challenge and the theme this week  is 'Anything Goes'!  Challenge start date is Oct 20th, 2012. I used a Doodle Pantry  digital stamp set  called 'Cute Kitten' and I think the kitten is not only cute but displays a bit of poise and a lot of  attitude too!

I think this is one of my favourite Halloween cards as it is more cute than scary and it is just what I want to send to a great nephew in Ontario.  The cat is from Doodle Pantry and is called 'Cute Kitten'. I printed out the image, coloured it and then cut it out and propped it  on the sentiment frame image. The background paper (which I love) is from 'The Four Seasons paper stack by DCWV. Added a black bow looped around a circle and popped on a dimensional bat and spider. Just so easy peasy!

DT Card for LEJ Designs - Gothic/Dark

This is my first card for LEJ Designs and the LEJ Designs Challenge Blog this week  has as their theme  'Gothic/Dark'. Now I am no expert whatsoever in Gothic art so bare with me, this is my first attempt.  One thing I can say it was so much fun to make.  I Goggled Gothic art and one picture had all these bare branches looking quite eerie  so I decided to base my card on that feature.Luckily  I  had some graveyard  paper with bare branches  displayed on it.. The branches were purple so I made the gravestone and accessories purple to go with it. I added the corner die cut  in green just for some relief from the other dark colours.   The image is from QKR Stampede who is sponsoring this challenge and isn't it a beaut!I cut the image out by hand and  I shaped the skeleton head up from being level with the tombstone by squeezing the paper into a fold where his neck meets his head, I think it makes it look quite dimensional.  I also added three little ants crawling  on the stone for some more eeriness.  Hope you like my attempt:O)

Halloween Birdie Bat - Doodle Pantry Sponsors - Digital Tuesdays

Doodle Pantry is a sponsor this week for - Digital Tuesday - with the theme of  HAPPY HALLOWEEN ! Another super fun challenge from the folks at Digital Tuesday. Hope mine is 'happy' enough  as I plan to send it to a great grandson  and I certainly don't want to scare him!  Oh well the birdie  is a pretty un-scary ( is there such a word?) bird so it should be OK.   This little bat birdie is from a Doodle Pantry digital stamp set called - you guessed it - Birdie Bat :0), I think he is quite adorable and I chose to colour him with the orange colour of autumn, handsome , handsome I say!   The sentiment is from the same set and the  flying bats are from  a Cuttlebug die set called Creepy. I used prismacolor markers for the birdie and the background pattern paper is from my stash .  This was a fun card to make and I hope the little guy receiving it will think it is a fun card.
