Stella's Birthday

Sometimes cards just fall into place as this one did; I had no trouble with it !!!  Even the bow turned with the first attempt (and this is unusual but probably due to an easy bow maker I have started to use).  I created the card following a few rules  I have observed from watching my card making buddy Dawn. They are as follows:
  • when in doubt use a black border
  • vivid colour is good
  • any kind of bows are nice
  • use crystal effects
  • humor never hurts
  • makes things dimensional (Stella's party hat-right side)
Thanks bunches Dawn!

I have entered the following challenges:

1. Friday Sketchers challenge #136
2. Incy Wincy Designs Challenge #76 - use dots
3. Bugaboo - Catch the Bug - Emboss it (I used dry embossing on my background papers)
4. Cupcake Craft Challenge #124 - Something New (this digi stamp from Bugaboo is new, first time I've used it)

Stamp: digital from Bugaboo 'Stella - Life of the Party'

Say it with Love - Butterscotch Cupcake Fairy

Lexi's Creations Challenge #31:  Say it with Love .
Here is my take on the challenge. The first thing that came to  mind when I read the challenge title   'Say it with Love', was 'nothin says lovin like something from the oven'. I decided I would make a card that would reflect the sentiment of saying love with the offering of food.  When I discovered  Fairy Dust Crafts   had a fairy with a cupcake, it was a done deal! So here is the lovely fairy, the cupcake and an appropriate sentiment . Hope you enjoy her!

Details about the card:  it is an easel card decorated with wall paper for the background  and held in place (when opened) with gold brads.  If perchance the brads fail, the sentiment is raised  and will perform the same function. On the underneath of the base I added a diagram that shows how an easel card works to cover the dreaded brad tails. I added some glitter to her wings, the top of the cupcake and on the top of her shoes. A few butterflies and pearls were added and she was done...

I am quite pleased with the final presentation, not too fancy, but not plain either!

Holy Land Flower

What a beautiful  image the Doodle Pantry people have given us with this Holy Land flower. Very easy to work with and I learnt something too. I had heard of this flower throughout the years ,but had not paid much heed to it. Now I have looked it up and fallen in love with it. A simple flower but so pretty. I have created the card using  almost amethyst and almost artichoke and I think the colours work. The only difficult thing with this card was the  Martha Stewart all around  edge punch, I had quite a time with it and I don't think I have mastered it yet. It's a work in progress....

New Beginnings - Feeling Rosy

having a Blog Hop as part of their challenge #86. One of the things to do is enter a card using a house mouse stamp that reminds you of some type of new beginnings. I chose this specific stamp as it is a Christmas gift and this is the first time I've used it: a new beginning in a way.  My son and his girl friend have decided to drink more tea and less coffee, this stamp reflects a mouse rejoicing in that new beginning. lol!

The crew over at Creative Card  have also chosen New Beginnings for their theme this week. Can be anything new.

I created this card based on the sketch from Mojo Mondays for this week. What wonderful sketches they have.

Instylestamps have a colour challenge this week : use the colours purple, silver and white and including a bit of sparkle.I have added sparkle to the mouse's hair, and on the teacup decorative stripe and on the Rose Hip tea tag. Not that easy to see, sorry. This was also my attempt to add some silver to the card.

Pixie Cottage: sketch and/or punches; I have the punches

Stamps: Stampabilities  'Feeling Rosy'
Paper: whisper white, misc background paper
ink: SU lovely lilac
Markers: Prismacolors
Ribbon: Michaels

Little Boy with Tree - Gift Set

I like this image by GKDesigns; he is an adorable little boy and the snowsuit reminds me of times gone by. I made a little puff box to go with it. It will hold a few chocolates for a little boy I know (next year for course as I have already eaten the ones I did  have).   The background squares were created by heat embossing  stamped  images of snowflakes and weathered brick.

I have entered this in ;
StampTV : (add glitter with glitter pens:  I added glitter to the hat, mitts, scarf, branches and the tree itself)
Mojo Mondays : (sketch)
Fussy and Fancy :  Happy Birthday celebrations going on over at Fussy and Fancy' site, they are one year old and challenging one to create a card  and matching gift to celebrate any occasion -  I chose Christmas and I checked and found some DT's had made gifts sets, so decided what I made was OK - hope so anyways as it is a delicious challenge.)
Stamp Something: using glittler ( I used Sakura pens)

Stamp: GKD  Warm and Cozy Christmas
Sentiment: Stamping Up
Paper: Stampin UP Ridinghood Red, Mellow Moss, Whisper White
Markers: Prismacolors
Ink: SU   Mellow moss for the background snowflakes and weathered look
Glitter pens: Sakura
Punches: Martha Stewart
