Christmas with a Twist

Challenge #179 Christmas with a Twist over at Crafty Cardmakers this fortnight. , make a project  that is not typically Christmas, eg; different colours, quirky or unusual project or card, etc. See Crafty Cardmakers for more details.  I decided to go with a brown colour scheme and a non traditional, somewhat quirky image of a shoe. Bugaboo Crabby Cat and Bingo

Holiday Chaos day seven and the challenge today is a 'BINGO' challenge! I used the row with glitter/bling, snowflakes and non traditional colours. The snowflakes are on the embossed background.

I used a Bugaboo stamp called  Crabby Cat Christmas and a new(to me) die  from Shapeabilities titled  'Gold Corner Sets One'.  The background was embossed with a Christmas embossing folder and the sentiment is from Whimsy stamps. I punched out  the dark brown frames with Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped dies and placed them off center . The elf was coloured with Prismacolor Markers and the skin tone with copics. I added a bit of sparkle and the card was done.

Bugaboo - OBG

Day 6 of Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and the theme is Oldie but a Goodie with old paper and an old image. I used the Bugaboo image 'AKV Santa - chimney' , coloured him with Prismacolor Markers, framed him with a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 4 die cut, paper from my remnants file, a stampin Up sentiment and two Stampin ' Up punches for the  sentiment frame. To jazz it up a bit I added some red rhinestones and a couple of  branches from the  Heartfelt Creations die "Belle Rose'.   I am certainly adding to my Christmas card collection.  Yay!

Bugaboo SASJJcheers

Today is day 5 of Holiday Chaos at Catch the Bug challenge blog.. The theme is Funny Photo Challenge, so  dig out your funny bone and share your humour with us. 

I picked  the Bugaboo  image 'SASJJcheers' taking the colour red and the wine glass from the above photo as my inspiration.  Skin tone were coloured with Copics and the rest with Prismacolor Markers. The lettering is from Memory Box 'Classic  Lowercase Alphabet' and the two large snowflakes are from Impression Obsession Die024-X. The little wee red one was found on the floor under my desk so goodness knows :O)! The half hidden tree is a Sizzix Tim Holtz die.  The red circles are from a paper punch.

Today is New Release day at Bugaboo Stamps and  and this little fellow is one of them. It is also 'Day 4' of the Holiday Chaos week at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and the theme is ' Clean  as Snow - Keep it Simple - No Patterned Paper'. I used Bugornamentelf from  Bugaboo Stamps' Dec 6th new releases, coloured him with Prismacolor Markers, added die cut alphabet letters and a die cut snowflake. Love this cute little guy!

Bugaboo Christmas Gift Tag

Day Three at the Catch the Bug 'Holiday Chaos' challenge and today is Anything but a Card Day with the theme 'Create a Gift Tag and include  red and white stripes'. I used the adorable  BugElf Peeper image from Bugaboo Stamps and coloured him with prismacolor Markers (Copics for the flesh tones). My crafting buddy gave me the red and white paper   The tag was hand made and decorated with a Spellbinders  scalloped circle die,a die cut poinsettia with a brown brad center and the adorable elf peeking out. Bugaboo Elf Card

Holiday Chaos day two and the challenge today is a 'Sketch' challenge!
                                             
I used a Bugaboo stamp called BUGELF001 , quite adorable.  and a new(to me) die  From Creative Impressions titled  'Striplet - Bevelled Glass' which I cut in half  to fit my card. I pasted it over a brown strip and left the bottom line open to the white embossed background.This is my interpretation to the scalloped edge shown in the sketch. The background was embossed with a Christmas embossing folder and the sentiments is from Stampin Up  and punched out with two Stampin Up  punches. The elf was coloured with Prismacolor Markers and the skin tone with copics. I added a bit of sparkle and the card was done.

Tutorial - Post-It Note Holder

Tutorial Wednesday at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge blog and it is my turn to give one, so here goes.    I was given this lovely post it note holder from a dear friend who for no reason, just because she wanted to, gave it to me. I treasure it  and  I thought what a nice thing to give someone a just because gift so I decided to make one . I thought it would not be fair to copy her design (which I love) and went  with a  similar version of my own.  The main thing to remember is the insert must be THIN! The following are my specks.

                           Post-It- Note Holder
   Supplies/Tools

• photo frame holder
• paper cutter
• cardstock
• designer Paper
• die
• image    
• double sided tape 
• colouring tools
• posit-it/sticky note pad

      Instructions            

•  obtain one  photo frame holder 6" x 4"- There are many to choose, this was my choice.

1.  Cut a 6" x 4" piece of cardstock and a 5 3/4" x 3 3/4"  piece of designer paper 
   

      2.  Cut a 2 3/4' x 2 3/4 frame for the image from
            cardstock: 

                     I used a Spellbinders die cut  called

                     'Fleur de Lis Square' ,or use any die

                      of your choice with similar dimensions 

    3. Inner image   2" x 2"   

        I used Beautiful Blocks  -   Life   a Bugaboo image  

       You can use digital or rubber/clear stamps

•  colouring  -  Prismacolor markers Spring Green, Leaf green and Chartreuse

  

   4.  adhere:  designer paper to the 6" x 4" cardstock,

        image to the die cut border, all to the designer  paper        

                          

    5. Insert into the frame holder

   6. Adhere post-it note pad to outside of the frame holder

                                           You are Done!

Gift Box

Gift Box and Money/Card Holder

Do you need something small to hold a gift certificate or money?,   I made this for a granddaughter to hold her gift , which is money, but wanted something special to hold it in.  Something to make the money more personal, and let her know some thought went into the gift. I love how it turned out! You can throw some treats into the box for an added touch. Every item I used was from my stash . I used Spellbinders  circle and  scalloped dies and  I think the paper was Stampin' Up.

Gift Tags

Today is Monday ' Anything But a Card' day at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and with  Christmas   drawing near,  I decided to create a  set of gift tags. They are somewhat larger than your ordinary gift tag and would work well hanging from a bag or adhered to a larger package.  I decided to  work with scraps of left over cardstock so  it was just a matter of deciding the colour themes and going for it. I store  left over paper/cardstock  from my different projects in see through bags , one for each colour group, so it was a matter of finding the right size paper to fit the circle dies.    Turned out  harder than I thought  and had a bit of a mismatch here matching the ribbon  to the colours I used,  but hey,  they  will head to the garbage after the opening anyway. It was fun and wished I had made more,but I am off to a different project  and this will have to do.

Outlawz Nov. - Special Delivery

This so cute image is the free image for the November Outlaws  Progressive Challenge provided you had participated in the last one. Bugaboo - Scarlette - Wine

Oldie but a Goodie day at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge site. Always so much fun to find one of the older stamps and use it .  I choose this fun image called Frame it-Scarlette-Wine. She makes me smile just looking at her.  I coloured her with Prismacolor Markers, added a heart and a thin border, some brown half pearls and she was done. Fast and easy, I must try more of these Frame It type images.

Thanksgiving Gable Boxes

Today is Monday and that means it is Anything But a Card Day at the Catch the Bug blog. To see some wonderful projects from the DT go there and enjoy.

These are the Gable Boxes I made for a grand niece and nephew for Thanksgiving , I filled each with a little treat and a very  tiny toy.    The cardstock is Stampin' Up's, the image is Bugaboo's Autumn Critter Stack 02 and I coloured them with Prismacolor markers. The decor on top was a dollar store purchase. Instructions on how to make Gable boxes are everywhere on the Internet e.g.:  Splitcoaststampers and are an easy and fun little gift container for any occasion.
