The Outhouse

+

When I heard Laurie had an outhouse image in her September release, I knew I wanted to do a release card using the image. I grew up in a house with no running water, heated with wood and coal  and   almost everyone we knew had an  'outhouse' . So many stories of  outhouse happenings took place through  the years, mostly all hilarious. Here is one;   one of my brothers  tied his horse to the outhouse  and while he was using it the horse spooked and ran away dragging it with him and  my brother still inside  yelling like crazy. We still have a great laugh about this when we get into one of 'I remember when' gatherings! Outhouses usually got tipped over every Halloween and  ours did too, until we  grew older and  became part of the town  kids that were out after treating, then for some reason nobody touched ours or our friends.. The next day our Mother often sent the boys  to   help the neighbours push theirs  back up. I guess she figured the guilty parties where the ones with outhouses still standing..
This card is a birthday card for the brother who tied the horse to the outhouse!

  6. Love the outhouse story Glenda. I know my Uncle was one of the boys who tipped outhouses over on Halloween. I know because he told us Grandma caught them once and chased them home with a wooden spoon, lol! Fantastic colouring and the background paper is gorgeous! Is it wallpaper?

My last house was an old big Victorian house and that had an outside loo (as well as inside I hasten to add) but it was always great for the kids when they were playing out! Have a great day Susan x
