Balloon Penquin
Here is simple little card for Christmas and designed it so it will easily meet the postal requirements and NOT cost extra to mail. I am so annoyed at the postal service, they just announced they will be raising the individual cost to mail a letter to $1.00 and if bought in a pack to 85 cents (a 63 cent increase per stamp)! Not only that but the permanent ones are no longer permanent, what a farce! Plus they will be discontinuing urban mail service to the door and everyone will have to pick up their mail at the community boxes. Image raising the prices to pay for non delivery, Crown Corporation at it's finest. Well, I feel better getting that off my chest :O)!!
I have used Doodle Pantry's 'Winter Birthday' from the December 2013 release as my image and made a Christmas card (for next year , hence my rant) out of it. It was a pre-coloured image but I played with some of the colours and added a cloudy sky and a few little punched snowflakes to give it a Christmas feel! The Merry Christmas sentiment is from'Elizabeth Craft designs'and the embossing folder is Cuttlebugs 'Snowflakes' .

Oh wow Glenda....loving you version. Now why didn't I think of decorating the balloons and love your clouds. Your card put a smile on my face at 5 am this morning.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! What a cute idea adding the snowflake to the balloons - makes a regular winter image a perfect Christmas image!!
ReplyDeleteThank for playing at DRS Designs this week - Good Luck!

Beautiful card!! I love the clouds and the way you turned the birthday penguin into a Christmas penguin!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the postal prices! I think it is costing me more to mail cards than to make them!!
Glenda your floating penguin is adorable! Perfect clouds and the snowflakes in the balloons oh so cute!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute card. I love that penguin and your coloring is fantastic. I love the layout with the bright colors. Thanks for joining us this week at Creative Knockouts.
ReplyDeleteAwwww Glenda this is adorable! Love your sky background too how fabulous! Please don't get me started on Royal Mail!! They just floated their shares as they are privatising and now they are advertising on prime time TV at Christmas - they have a monopoly, its Christmas everyone is posting so why do they have to waste all that money advertising?????? Oh dear I better go lie down!! Susan xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I could have overlooked how cute this little penguin is, but until I saw your card and Cely's, I just didn't appreciate how adorable it is. What a great card! Love the papers and the snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteWow! What horrible news for Canadians. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it happens here in America. And when it does, I'll probably stop making cards.
ReplyDeleteReally cute Christmas card. Smart idea to make it mail friendly. I just took all my Christmas cards to the p.o. and it cost $28.00 to mail about 45 of them. I think for next year, I'm going to cut back on layers and embellishments for Christmas cards too, to make them more mailable. I'm also going to design a 4 x 8 card so that a photo card fits inside.
Your clouds are so fluffy and I love your little green polka dots on this one. That penguin is too cute! Were you serious about the postage increase? That is crazy!
ReplyDeleteOh my how cute is this! Thanks for joining in on the DRS Thursday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, so cute. Love him! Fab embossing too.

Hi Glenda!
ReplyDeleteMy cards always cost extra to mail if I have any kind of bling. My daughter in another State says she doesn't pay extra.....whats up with that?!?!
Your card as always is beautiful!
Merry Christmas
The penguin is so cute and beautifully coloured. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Cute Penguin. Love the bright colors too. Our postal service stinks too. But 1.00 to mail an envelope across town is ridiculous! And no home delivery.....nuts!
