Doodle Pantry is sponsoring the Incy Wincy Designs challenge starting Feb. 11, 2013 and the theme is 'texture'.I provided the texture by using lined cardstock paper and dry embossing the paper behind the parchment. The twine finishes it off. I used several Doodle Pantry digital stamp images from their Feb.2013 release and merged them together to get the above image! It is to me a very masculine image so the card reflects this in that is fairly non- adorned! Totally male! I'm not so great at creating distressed edges, mine looks like a mouse was at it :O) I used distress ink to give the paper an older look
Card Details:
Stamps: Doodle Pantry's Old parchment and Western Colour Image Combos set (I picked the barbed wire with hat with boots image)
Sentiment: Doodle Pantry's 'Old Pistal' digital stamp set
Paper: Card stock Stampin' Up 's whisper white;stash
Embossing Folder: script (as I was just looking for more texture I used the underside)

Don't you just love how that Old Parchment makes such a great image background, Glenda? I used it with the cowboy hat on a masculine card and love how it turned out. This one of yours is magnificent ! Funny, when I read your comment about not liking your distressed edge, my first reaction when I saw it was how creative it was that it didn't look like every other torn or sanded edge everyone does. I love it! :-D
ReplyDeleteI LOOOVE IT! You definitely caught texture, and I don't know about any mouse...haha...looks weathered and worn.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Such a great pairing of images and it looks so worn and weathered just like you would expect from the Old West. Wonderful card! And very masculine. Those can be such a challenge! You nailed it!

I love the look of your paper Glenda. You have made it look old and that goes well with your images. Great male card! nancyD
ReplyDeleteOh Glenda...I am so blown aw3ay by your talents. I have been saving digital images since i first started following you. I have never downloaded one yet! Cuz I am not sure how to do it...what kind of ink, paper, how to resize etc...
ReplyDeleteYou merge and meld together and create new images by combining several...I am so impressed by your skills!!!
Your card is fabulous. So masculine in feeling and great images. I love the way you added the barbed wire circle.
I also think the tearing/distressing is just perfect...I think it needs to look worn and really aged...as a cowboy's things would have been!
Such a fabulous masculine card! Love all the texture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Glenda, a perfectly manly card. Love the texturing and your distressing, you have really given your card the aged effect. Best of luck in this weeks OSAAT challenge :)
