A Cat's Halloween

This is my first 'twisted easel' card. I was looking for something to make that was a little different (for me) and decided to try one of these twisted  type cards.  I found the feather on one of my walks with my dog and thought, ooh it looks spooky, I better take it home and see what I can do with it (it actually comes from a Magpie so it has a lot of very dark green colour in it,  so it is not totally spooky -lol) I do not normally send out Halloween  cards  but I think I know of one young  girl who might find it fun.  The cat stamp is from Doodle Pantry and is called 'Cute Kitten'. The flowers are DIY, the green bats are from a Cuttlebug  Cut & Emboss set called Creepy and  the happy Halloween sentiment is from a Halloween paper set I had bought several years ago.   I used the Stampendous Marble Texture Cube to give the bottom of the easel card the added spooky texture, but left the top part bare as I liked the starkness of it.

Challenges entered:
Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge:  the theme  is Cute Halloween/Fall  card for kids  and is sponsored by Doodle Pantry  (Sept 17th  - Sept. 30th ,2011). Ants - A Bugs Life

Aaaah, the season of fun is upon us, or will be shortly, dressing up to be something we are not , or who we fancy we should be! What could be more fun for the youngsters and even some of us older ones:). Actually I enjoyed it as a child, not as  an adult, but I did love  making costumes for my son. He loved dressing up  and could often be found as a Batman in July and a ninja in  January. He has a friend  who lives just a few doors away who  I think was in a costume all year long:) In fact when my son first met him at about age 4 he was dressed as a ninja walking up and down the sidewalk. My son rushed out  to see him, got scared, came back in babbling about the ninja  who had just moved in across the street. He grabbed his little plastic sword and ran out to defend  us all. Came back in a short time later, still hyper and two of our (my husbands) grand kids who were visiting us at the time (a few years older than  our son) could not convince him (much to their chagrin) that the little boy across the street was not  a ninja. 'Yes he is'  my son kept saying.  Any how, the two became  best of friends and remain so to this day  ( in their early twenties now), but they spent many an hour dressed up and in a world of their own.

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring  the latest challenge at  OWH Stars & Stripes Blog  and the theme is  'A Bugs Life'.  The above card was  created to celebrate the challenge! I used a digital stamp  from Doodle  Pantry's ' Ants Masquerade' stamp set and  the sentiment is a freebie from  Bizzy Becs. I added a flower to the  sentiment, a few bugs in the corner ( Royal E-Z Rub on Transfers)  and a button with some ribbon for the embellishments.
Oh, and forgive my yellow ant, the ant was supposed to be coloured grey and the costume gold/yellow, things got kinda of mixed up there and I noticed it after it was all coloured - so I l just left it that way:).
Figured somewhere out there in this marvellous world there is a yellow ant..

Recipe Card

Time for another House Mouse card. I had so much fun making this card as I was over at my stampin buddy's for a Friday afteroon of stamp n' play:0)   Sometimes we just amaze ourselves with our goofs (maybe amaze is the wrong word  as we are pretty used to it by now:). The best thing  is each  goof  brings forth gales  of  laughter and what better way to spend an afternoon.  Well the coffee is pretty good too! Just as we were finishing up her hubby brought some chocolate covered DQ 'Dilly' bars  home with  him and they were just soooo delicious.  The sentiment 'something yummy for the tummy' said it all!

Cardstock: Stampin Up whisper white, green galore, chocolate chip

Iris

The Iris - Greek word for rainbow and I must admit they seem to come in every shade of colour. The prolific ones in my garden are  light purple and white which I think is a very common  colour for them and it is  certainly a very, very hardy type. I got mine many years ago from my sister and it's descendants are thriving. About every two to three years I have to dig them up and re plant just a few of them or they would take over my small plot of land:)  I do however, look forward every spring to see them burst forth in colour and dominate the garden for a couple of weeks. Later on I have  a dark purple and white iris  blooming and it is totally gorgeous, but not near so prolific. In some light the purple looks almost black.

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring  the Sept 6 - Midnight Madness MMSC120 sketch challenge.  It's a beautiful sketch and I encased my Iris in its design  to celebrate the occasion. Hope you like it.

Card details:
Stamp: DoodlePantry digital stamp  'Iris'

  • Flowers: DIY flowers  using various punches (Martha Stewart / K Success) , covered with glitter glue and enhanced with a pearl.   I used  Recollections Mulberry Paper Mini Roses for the bottom right hand corner.
